Leeds Road Tragedy



Kayleigh Sylvester also known to close friends and family as ‘ the woman with a magnetic personality’ died suddenly on Friday 18th.

Kayleigh Sylvester lived on Town Crescent, Bradley Mills near to where her devastating incident happened.

At 24 years of age this was unexpected death to everyone close to her. She was described an inspirational person to those around her as she was a sufferer Asperger’s syndrome and worked at active.

She,  joined with Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman opened a Active centre on Newsome Road, Nesome last  year; the Centre is for adults and children with learning difficulties. She often brought forward her ideas for the centre  as she had a learning difficulty herself. She worked in the kitchens there.

During more than 2 years of being involved with Active Kayleigh featured in a DVD made for the Kirklees Learning Disability website about her employment.

She died on Friday night after being run over outside the Yorkshire Rose on Leeds Road.

Family and friends have placed floral tributes by the side of the incident, but were too upset to make a statement to media.

Work colleges have described her as ‘ A woman with a magnetic personality, and a cheeky way of making people laugh. She always has a huge smile on her face and is a great inspiration to everyone!’
